Kalarippayatt/Vadakkan Kalari
The world Kalari comes from Tamil word Kalai(Arts of knowledge) and payattu means regular Sadana .Kalarippayatt known as vadakkan Sampradhayam.Usully practiced in the Northern part of Kerala.Vedic tradition has influenced this practice developing it into its present form.Practice begins from maithari(solo practice and actuation).progressing to Kolthari (wooden weapons)Angathari(metal weapons). Verum kai thari(freehand techniques) and Marma sastram(vital knowledge and Marma treatment).
The culture of kalari denotes that a student through dhashina give themself fully to the guru and kalari.The training system is determined by the students level and begins with physical activation.
Through continual practice concentration, breath control ,flexibility, bodybalance, stamina, speed, accuracymental strength and alertness will be developed and continue to be refined as training continues.this wii enable the student to progress to higher levels of practice and attainment.
